Monday tidbits is a piece that will focus on some interesting things you may or may not have noticed from the previous week's tournament.
Luke Donald
Donald shot an opening round 64, to start the tournament at 6 under. He would play the next three rounds a combined 1 over. Had he just shot par for three straight days, he would have been in a playoff with Els.
Boo Weekley
Had essentially the same 3 footer on 18 that he had last year. Last year it would have given him the win and he missed it. This year he made it.....for an 80.
Mark Calcavecchia
I'm not sure about the ruling that Mark got on the 15th green after his bunker shot went into the rocks. I'm not a rule book junkie but I was really surprised when he was allowed to drop his ball on the green. I thought for sure that his only options were to go back in the bunker or go directly across the lake in the same direction. The announcers didn't really explain the ruling either, which keeps me wondering.
Matt Jones
Not really a tidbit so much as a thought. He seems like he is well on his way to becoming a star on tour. Of course we all thought the same thing about Kevin Na a few years ago and he has more or less leveled off. Definitely someone to keep an eye on though, especially for fantasy golf as he has not missed a cut yet this season.
